Mission is dedicated to improving mental health recovery in our communities through education, advocacy, resource referral, and friendships.

The Mental Health Association, an affiliate of Mental Health America, was founded in our area in 1959. The association provides education, advocacy, and resource referral locally and nationally and sponsors the Compeer International Program.

The Sandra Girton Resource Library provides books, videos, audiotapes, and education pamphlets on mental health topics and diseases. The library was donated in memory of Sandra E. Girton, a long time resident of Bloomsburg and an educator at Bloomsburg University.

Education and Outreach provides educational programs through the “Knowing is Knowledge Series” and participation in health fairs provides community awareness of mental health diseases, preventions, and recovery.

Advocacy ensures mental health consumers with representation regarding legal, medical and housing matters and helps to secure assistance with food and clothing.

Resource Referral provides individuals with names and locations for requested services both locally and nationally.
